Introduction

Enhancements to Seven Bus Interchanges

To enhance the commuting experience and create a more family-friendly and inclusive public transport system, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will carry out enhancement works in seven bus interchanges (BIs) from August 2024. These BIs are Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Boon Lay, Clementi, Sengkang, Serangoon and Toa Payoh.

Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange

The enhancements will focus on improving accessibility and providing commuter-friendly features and staff facilities. These enhancements are similar to features available in new BIs that were recently completed, such as the Jurong Town Hall and Tengah BIs. These improvements include:

Enhancements to or provision of inclusivity facilities such as priority queue zones, additional seating, baby care/family washrooms, wheelchair accessible toilets, commuter care rooms, tactile guided paths and Braille signs on handrails;
Replacement and upgrading of systems such as air-conditioning and lighting;
Refurbishment of staff facilities such as passenger service offices and staff lounges.

Boon Lay Bus Interchange

There will be no disruption to bus operations while works are carried out. Works affecting boarding/alighting berths will be conducted one berth at a time to minimise inconvenience to commuters. LTA will also work with Public Transport Operators to install wayfinding signs to guide commuters and put in place measures to minimise noise and dust. Commuters are encouraged to approach service staff at the BIs for assistance if needed. We seek the understanding and patience of commuters as we undertake these works to enhance the BIs.

Works at all seven BIs are expected to be completed by 2027.
